Today we had a complimentary breakfast in a smoke filled dining room!! we shared a bowl of oatmeal then 2 eggs bacon and hashbrowns mmmm good but needed a mint again as I felt like I had smoked a packet while I ate :(
Another cracker of a day weather wise. Our first stop is Devils Tower. Yes the one in 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'. It is kind of eerie and amazing rock formation.
At the post office out there we post a whole lot of stuff we won't need anymore now we are back in the land of true summer!! All our thermal gear, a pair of gloves each (we have 2) and some bits of stuff we haven't even used and should have left at home LOL. We had morning tea out there and then got back on the road.
We arrive in Spearfish SD in time for lunch and discover Arby's mmmm yummy sandwiches. Especially their horseradish sauce (horsey sauce LOL) then while riding towards Crazy Horse David spots the Black Hills Scenic Byway and turns in and says "Sounds great lets go!" so we ride along that then get to Crazy Horse about 2:30pm it does look like they may have made some progress since 2010 what do you think?

I'm not sure there's much difference myself but it has only been 4 years as you can see the weather was so much better this time around. After I took the photo in 2010 a fog rolled right in and the whole mountain disappeared!! As we left it started to rain and thwarted our plan to ride down the Needles Highway this was our visibility in 2010

we also revisited Mt Rushmore cause we could so we rode down the Needles Highway and then up Iron Mountain Rd great roads to ride a motorcycle. So I had to show you 2010 Mt Rushmore andf 2014 :))

As you can see it's at a different time of day so the mountain is a bit obscured by the sunshine, but hey the weather was magic and this time we walked around a bit and checked out the Artist's Studio and the view of the mountain from down there.
We arrived at our accomodation quite late and the woman behind the counter was the most uptight person but the little cabins are so cute and the room is immaculate and Hallelujah no smoke smell. We ask the owners where the closest restaurant is and he points us to Marcos a pizza restaurant at the local Golf Club it is THE best pizza and they have great cold beer we are in heaven!!
