Steep and narrow grade not suitable for towing house trailers

Saturday 10th May

The above sign was actually on the road made us laugh very loudly!!

We were very prepared this morning for the cold weather with our insulated pants, neck warmers, heated gloves and winter liners in our jacketsAll dressed up we left at about 9am (wanted to make sure that any ice is off the roads).  Firstly we ride up into Yosemite NP and then take the turn to ride over Tioga Pass.  Initially we don't see any snow but then we see heaps and heaps of snow and we stop on the way so David can turn his gloves on and to take some photos.  David had the GoPro on to take photos every 60 secs and then he was going to switch to video to go over Tioga Pass but the camera had turned itself off.  We stop just outside of Lee Vining at the Mobil for tea/coffee and strike up a conversation with Esther from Dawsons Creek, she is riding a Kawasaki Vulcan from Texas back to Dawsons Creek by herself, she must be so lonely.  She is a lovely young woman and offers us a bed in Dawsons Creek we will most likely meet her for coffee and she may have a place we can do an oil change on the bike.  We buy Tioga Pass patches and roast beef rolls for lunch.

We then head over to Sonora Pass and once on it realise that it is much narrower than Tioga Pass hence the above sign.  We stop at the top and had planned to have lunch up there but after having our gloves off for a minute or two our hands are numb and there is no loo so we decide to at least find a loo.  While walking around taking photos at the top we meet Richard from St Ives in Sydney, he offers us a cold beer from the back of his bike hahaha such an aussie!!  we politely decline and jump back on the bike ahhhhhh heated gloves are heaven!  We find a campground at the bottom of the hill with a loo and stop for lunch.

We arrive at our hotel at about 4:30pm and find the laundry so we can do our washing.  The woman at the front desk tells us there is a rodeo in town tonight so we are going to head over there later.

I try to facetime Jon but he is unavailable so try Jesse and get to talk to him for a few minutes before he goes into church and Chelsea too they both look so good was great to see them I just LOVE technology!!!

When we arrive at the hotel the lady tells us there is a rodeo in town so we decid eto head down there but when we arrive everything is really quiet and the rodeo is finished so we head back up to town and have a lovely Chinese dinner.
