Virginia City to the streets of San Francisco

Monday 12th May

We had looked at a cafe for breakfast last night so we packed up and were down there ready to eat at 7:30am.  I wanted pancakes for breakfast so I ordered that and they came with eggs and bacon ha ha we should have shared again although I did manage to eat most of it.  David had a breakfast scramble.  My coms unit still not working so shoulder taps and shouting it is.  We were on the road by 8:30am and made good time to our first stop Kit Carson Pass Summit.  We then stop for lunch in Tracy and have Wendy's for lunch ha ha.  We got into San Francisco around 3pm there are roadworks and we get caught up in them for a while, a quick petrol stop and we find our hotel quite easily.  The room is so cute with an alcove window that you can sit in, I love it!!  We are here for three days so we make ourselves at home.

David contacted Mike at J C Motors to find out what we can do about our coms unit and he refers us to the company that supplied it, he also tells us that it is still under warranty which is very exciting to us because we were contemplating having to buy another set.  So Dave puts an omline question to the company to see what we need to do.

We went for a walk to see what we would have for dinner and find a pizzeria up the road from the hotel.  It was a very yummy pizza.  We also went for a walk to the waterfront.

We go back to the hotel and David buys tickets to Alcatraz for Wednesday.

Tuesday 13th May

At 7:30am we get a phone call from Jack about our helmet coms WOW he was onto it!!  He told us that he would send us a new unit straight away and for us to send him the non-working one, so we should have a new one tomorrow.  We go for a run up Lombard street (no not the windy part) it was very steep though great training for the City to Surf.  Breakfast is provided by the hotel this morning and it's great.  After breakfast we buy tickets for a hop on/hop off siteseeing bus, it's a double decker and open topped.  we ride it down to Chinatown and get off to have a look it's mostly souvenier shops and restaurants and we go into one for lunch and the Yum Cha (or Dim Sum as they call it here) was great.  That's the one good thing about Chinese restaurants you can get pretty much the same food whether in Australia or USA.

We get back on the bus and get off at Fisherman's Wharf.  We buy some grapes and sit down in the shade to eat them yum yum
We find a whole lot of sea lions on wharf 39 they are sooo noisy!!!!!
We get back on the bus and ride the loop to the Golden Gate bridge and back to our hotel.

It's time for a rest, shower, panadol and snack not necessarily in that order.
On the news we find out it's been the hottest day in San Francisco since 1927!!!!! it's not that hot really but everyone is complaining LOL 90 degrees.

We plan to go to a diner for dinner tonight.
