Day 8 Strahan & Gordon River cruise

We managed to score a lift down to Strahan with a lovely couple from Cranbourne Vic, Steve & Delores.

On the boat we had taken the first class option which meant sitting on the top deck in leather arm chairs with complimentary tea/coffee, beer/wine & bottled water all day and of course food!.

Hot hors'deuveres were served at 9am which meant we just had to have a beer of course! pepperberry cheese mini quiches and smoked salmon pate on cucumber rounds and then cheese platters were set up at the back of the deck (indoors thank goodness) which had double brie (King Is of course), Roaring Forties blue, wild wasabi with fruit and nuts to accompany which absolutely needed a Tamar Valley red of course! LOL  We got off the boat and went for a walk through the rainforest and when we get back on board it's time for lunch among the yummies on offer was smoked wallaby, turkey, ham, smoked salmon and trout (both fished right on the Gordon River) smoked wallaby for the record tastes like a strong corned beef :) there was fresh apples & after dinner mints and then we visited Sarah Island one of the most ruthless penal colonies in Australia in such a remote location had a bit of a law of it's own some pretty hinky stuff went down there.  We take a guided tour which is quite entertaining and when we get back on board we have a cup of tea and a huge biscuit!!!

We then drove back to Queenstown with our lift hosts and went to the IGA (running through the rain) for cuppa noodles again ha ha!!!

When we came back into mobile range a message came through from Marawah Tavern they have my phone wooohooo so they will post it home for me it will most likely beat me there :)  David rang the mechanic and he came and installed our new battery so we are good to go tomorrow.
