We have our yoghurt and fruit breakfast it's really good. When I am checking out I let the girl at the desk know about the towels, She did apologise.
It is dry but very cold when we start out and we get a fw hundred metres down the road and remember the signpost forest it's insane!!! We stop at Rancheria Lodge for petrol and coffee and who should be sitting down to breakfast but Terry & John so we sit and chat to them for quite a while. John gives us his email so we can contact him if ever we go to the UK. We bid them goodbye as we don't think we will see them again.
It had started to rain lightly when we arrived and as we leave the rain is quite set in. Two days could not be any different!! Yesterday sunny, warm and dry. Today rainy, cold and wet.
The only saving grace is our wet weather gear is sooo good. And on this bike neither of our boots get wet. Yesterday we crossed about four steel bridges and I remember saying to David that I was glad it's not raining cause I reckon those bridges would be super slippery........well............I was right!!! Today just before our lunch stop we rode over the mother of all steel bridges even sitting on the back I could feel how slippery it was David did well navigating the 150m long bridge. We arrive at the small restaurant that is our lunch stop at the same time as a bus load of people!! The restaurant is chockers and we just stand their frozen solid with our helmets in our hands the waitresses running past us with drinks, food and orders. We are just waiting for someone to finish when this lovely couple from Queslan BC (Cheryl & Terry) offer to share their table what a lovely couple they probably felt the least like chatting as they were on their way home from a friend's funeral but they were just delightful. Lunch is beef and barley soup aahhhhh just what we needed to warm us up. After lunch we go to the gift shop and find a really cool display of taxidermied local wildlife. We see a moose that is way bigger than the one we saw yesterday. They grow sooo huge! Just as we are leaving John comes over to say hi and says he found the bridge really hard too.
The rain doesn't let up and we stop for petrol and a cuppa at Jake's Corner. Turns out though that we can get petrol but there isn't even a public loo available. So glad I didn't need to go! We didn't see any wildlife today I'm pretty sure the bears went back into hibernation! in fact, I didn't see much of anything today as my visor was fogged up the whole day I had to keep lifting it and getting my face wet to see signs so I could navigate us.
So when we arrived at our B&B Home bon accueil and Sandra our hostess offered us a hot cuppa and freshly baked muffin I could have kissed her. Her first words come sit by the fire were music to my ears. Our bed looks really comfy but this B&B has a shared bathroom.
Sandra recommends Klondike Rib & Salmon for dinner and we go over there after settling into our room. We had to wait a few minutes for a table but we are told it's totally worth the wait. When we are shown to our table it's a long table with 6 chairs up to it and there is another couple sitting at the other end it's not long before we realise that they are Australian and I laughingly say "maybe they'll try slotting another 2 Aussies in here!" pointing to the 2 free seats the male responds "I damn hope not!" I ask them where they are from (Melbourne) and they promptly totally ignore us. Fine, we order our meal and had taken a few bites when.......Terry and John walk in. Terry asks if they can join us by asking the male "would you mind if we sat here?" his response "yes I would!" mmm not very friendly!!! so Terry and John go to the table the waitress had picked for them and then David stands up and says "OK we'll come sit with you!!" ha ha so the waitresses help us move and we end up having a really lovely meal together. The food is divine David had fish chowder made with halibut and I have baked halibut with a berry sauce mmmmmmm yum!
We get back to the B&B and get ready for bed which is so weird because it's nearly 11pm and it's still light. I found a scale in the bathroom and weighed myself and am pleased to discover I have not put on weight yihaaaa We are so tired that we fall asleep pretty quickly. Before we went out Sandra told us she was expecting 2 french women at about 10pm, at 1:40am I was woken by 'something' and got up to go loo loo and saw people in the other rooms.
my new friend pity he's a tad stuffed LOL |
