Day 3 Henty - Port Melbourne

We woke to an overcast day (having rained quite heavily during the night).  David checked out the BOM (bureau of meteorology) site to check out where the rain was heading and realised that we were going to get wet today. So we donned our wet weather gear and just as we were leaving the B&B down it came.  We had planned to stop in Glenrowan but due to the rain decided to stop at the service centre on the freeway, we fuelled up there and David parked the bike under an overhang as we had parked the bike undercover last night and had started the day with a dry seat and wanted to keep it that way (see photo, haven't worked out how to caption photos yet). Poor David's gloves were soaked so we decided to have a hot drink primarily to get warm :) and dry out a bit.  Using the hand dryers for glove dryers.
The next leg to Seymour wasn't too bad a little bit of rain but the road was good and we just wanted something hot for lunch so we went to the pub for lunch and had the roast of the day (beef yummo) Then we left for our final step to Port Melbourne.
David knew we needed to fuel up before we got on the ship and as we drove along the Mooroondah Hwy up a hill the bike coughed and David switched to reserve and then........the bike died right in the middle lane of a three lane hwy!!!  Thankfully we were on a flat area of road.  Sooo I jumped off after a few unsuccessful tries to restart and pushed!!  there was a side road nearby and David tried to 'clutch' start and after trying quite a few times we pushed the bike back to the top of the side road.  As it started to rain againwe decided to call the RACV who told us they would bring petrol or tow us but wouldn't be able to effect any repairs...AND that there would be quite a wait.... we were on a tight schedule to get to the ship... we both then noticed a new 'dent' on the tank.  Then David thought about the petrol tank and that there might be an airlock preventing the petrol coming from the reserve tank, so he removed the cap there was a big sucking noise and the 'dent' came out of the tank!! then he tried to start the bike and voila!!! so another phone call to the RACV to cancel the call out and then we were on our way again.  Down the road a little we found some petrol and then the Monash Fwy that would take us all the way into town.  The traffic was pretty heavy and as we got closer we could hear the Formula 1 cars at Albert Park raceway.  The signs pointing us to the actual pier were pretty good but then when we found the pier the signs showing us where to board were pretty poor and we ended up trying to board with the freight ha ha we finally found where to drive and ended up boarding with 3 other bikes.  It was very very confusing but once we were on and the bike was strapped down it was all good.
We went up to our cabin which had 4 beds (bunks) and a shower and toilet, it reminded me of the train to Sapa in Vietnam except that it had ensuite and we weren't sharing :)  We both had a shower mostly to warm up from being wet all day.

Then we explored the ship there are restaurants, bars, shops, a casino and a theatrette on board.  We have dinner at a self-serve bistro not bad food and then go and sit in 2 massage chairs which give us a 5 min massage for $2 very relaxing.  We had both taken Travelcalm before dinner and after drinking some beer with dinner were both quite drowsy and went back to our cabin and werer sound asleep by 9:30pm!  the beds were pretty comfy and both slept soundly until about 5:30am
