Day 9 Queenstown - Hobart

As we are packing up for the day Dave goes outside to see if he can see stars and assures me that he can so I've decided not to wear my rain gear and then as we are making our last preparations it starts to rain hooray!! so I have no choice but to put on my rain gear!!! gah!  Driving out of Queenstown according to David is like driving through 1000 roundabouts.  Starting out the day on wet, greasy, steep roads on cold motorbike tyres is not my idea of fun but David did a great job of wrangling the black beast through the snakelike wet roads.

We stopped at "The Wall" an absolutely phenomenal carved history of Tasmania (carved on laminated Huon pine) it's magnificent.  Then we stop at Nive River for morning tea.  I took off my rain gear as we are now riding over dry roads.  We see a fair bit of roadkill today.  Then we drive through New Norfolk for a pit stop and David takes off his rain gear.  We are driving to Hobart to meet my friend from school Fiona and I realise we are going to be 10 minutes late so I reach for Dave's mobile (while riding along) in his pocket and as I pull it out it's ringing!! so I answer it and put it on loudspeaker so that Fiona can hear me and surprisingly I can hear her too once I slide the phone under my visor ha ha.  We find Salamanca Place and a park and then follow Fiona's instructions to the restaurant.  We have a lovely time chatting over lunch.  Time flies and Fiona needs to get away for a meeting.  David and I decided to ride up to Mt Wellington as it was sunny and we weren't sure it would be tomorrow.  It's absolutely freezing up there Thank goodness we have our bike gear on!! When I asked David what he thought the temp up there would have been he said "somewhere between very cold and bloody freezing!" LOL

Then we drive to Seven Mile beach to meet Mum and Dad.  Mum made us a lovely dinner honey soy salmon with veges and rice.  We make plans for the next 3 days.
