We decide that instead of going on the around the lake walk that we will get off the shuttle at Snake Hill and walk down to Roddy Creek. It is boardwalks all the way and mostly downhill. And then when we got to Roddy Creek we decided to take the walk to Dove Lake carpark from there about an hour. There are boardwalks about halfway and when we got to the rocky part I said to David for a while there I thought we weren't going to do any 'real' bushwalking LOL we get to Dove Lake at 10:45am an hour exactly after leaving Roddy Creek. I took a photo of the mountain again today and it couldn't be any more different from yesterdays see the foggy photo below.
We had packed a thermos and had just sat down in the picnic shelter (a very small room with benches along the walls and a picnic table in the middle and a walk registration table at one end) when a woman walked in saying "sorry we're about to shatter your peace" we thought a family group was about to come in when in walked about 50 teenagers (lucky we arern't scared of them LOL) 3 of them sat down at the table opposite and started talking to us, they were very friendly and they asked where we were from, I asked them where they were from and they were from Drouin High School Year 9 and so David said "Do you know any Kelly's?" and at the same moment I noticed Mitchell standing at the edge of the room. Wow so amazing to run into a family member in the middle of nowhere!! We went back to the holiday park to see if the bike would start, it didn't but David spoke to the shuttle driver and he had the good idea of getting a jumpstart. So David started pushing the bike to the reception area while I tried to find a 'sucker' ...I mean helper ha ha!! I quickly found someone and we were started.
We rode down towards Queenstown and David thought that the bike might be OK so we stopped in Tullah for petrol and then......the bike wouldn't start so we pushed it to the Tavern just down the road and decided to have lunch and then deal with it. Dave got talking to a guy sitting at the bar in the Tavern and he offered to jumpstart us. We rode down to Queenstown the straightforward way (as opposed to the roundabout way we had planned) and stopped at a service station in town to enquire about a battery as by now David had decided that ours was dead! So we have one on order and it will be here tomorrow. So that's one problem fixed. We then walked uptown to buy some more groceries and find an ATM (there are NO NABs in Tassie what's with that!!!!!)anyway on the way into the IGA we asked someone if there was an NAB in town and if there was a hire car place because the taxi company wanted to charge $80 one way to take us to Strahan tomorrow. She offered for us to borrow her car but that she would have to check with her partner first so we gave her David's mobile number and she promised to text us. Shortly after we got a text to say sorry but her partner wasn't happy to loan the car. We had booked at the buffet at the motel and David was asking everyone where they were going tomorrow and whether we could get a lift. So we have a lift there AND BACK awesome!!!!
