In Portland we rode down to the information centre which is opposite the main port. Piles of woodchip are clearly visible on the portside and as we travel towards our morning tea stop there is copious woodchip on the side of the road. There are heaps of log trucks coming towards us fully laden and the pine forest is massive (plantation pine).
We stop at a small service station at a place called Nelson David and I have ordered our hot drinks and sandwiches to take for lunch and Leigh is in the middle of ordering her coffee when this rude man interrupts and says "well you are obviously not in a hurry and I am, I just want to pay for my petrol!" so rude! we enjoy our morning tea and head off to our next stop Princess Margaret Rose Cave.
We arrive at Princess Margaret Rose Cave at about 11:55am just in time for the 12pm tour. We are the only people there for the tour and our guide Steph is very friendly and enthusiastic about showing us the cave. It has some really spectacular formations and we take heaps of photos. After the tour we eat our lunch in the park it's very hot but we decide to go for a walk to check out the river. As we are getting ready to get back on our bikes rude man and his wife arrive ha ha they were in a huge hurry!!! they obviously had a very important appointment and arrived 2 hours after we did!!!
A short ride after lunch and we are at our accomodation Blue Lake Holiday Park which is exactly opposite the lake which is stunningly blue!!! Leigh and I go for a swim while David sorts out his bike issues (petrol problems) and then he comes for a swim too. Then we head downtown for some food supplies for our next 2 days meals, having a fridge and full kitchen means we can cater for ourselves so dinner tonight is steak for us, vegie burgers for Leigh with sweet potato, corn on the cob, carrot and zuchinni. Even though the cooking appliance wasn't really co-opoerating it was a satisfying meal.
The internet is very sporadic and so I am writing tonight and will put it online as soon as I can. Tomorrow we will explore Mt Gambier.
