Miles and miles and miles

Sunday 6th July 2014

Today was all about miles and miles and miles of road to cover.
We rode across Illinois, Indiana and into Ohio.
Illinois has amazing rest areas they have vending machines and free wifi as well as heaps of trees and picnic tables. Indiana has tollroads and for that reason they have Service Plazas every 50 miles or so.  For those Aussies local to us like the big one at Taree.  So you don't have to exit and pay a toll and get a new ticket just to get petrol or go to the loo :))

We saw our first accident in just over 2 months today and it was a doozy.  A truck with steel bars on it had crashed across from the other side of the road onto our side of the road and then into the ditch in the middle of the road and rolled over.  The steel bars were all in the ditch. It had happened only minutes before we came along there wasn't even any police or ambulance there yet.  The poor truck driver had been helped out of the truck by passersby and was sitting with his head in his hands in the ditch.  It was a huge mess!!  I think we got through just in time.

We stayed in a fairly dodgy hotel tonight not even any bath mat or hand towel.  The lady behind the counter suggested a restaurant Park & Eat so we went there and ordered the sirloin.  Now to me that means steak but it was strange it was mince made into the shape of a steak LOL pretty funny but it was really tasty.  We were both really tired today.
