Norfolk VA or bust!

Thursday 10th July

It was a fairly quick trip down to Norfolk we needed to be there by 1pm to attend the outing to the Botanical Gardens and I think we got there just before 1pm phew!! soo we had not stopped for lunch yet.
While I ran upstairs to register us and get our lanyards etc David took our luggage (such as it is LOL) to our room.  I check out our bag of 'goodies' and find a rainbow umbrella!!!!! cool I suggest we take it with us and David says "Nah you won't need it" We then hurried downstairs to meet the transport to the gardens.  We were soon organised into 2 vans for the ride over to the gardens which took about 10 mins.

The plan is to all ride out on the train and to all meet back at the front gate at 3:30pm.  As soon as I find out there is a butterfly house I want to get off there and explore.  So we are the only ones to get off there.  It's a small enclosure and we have a look around as it starts to rain lightly.  We are both REALLY hungry so we start to walk back to the cafe which is near the front gate.  We go into the cafe order a wrap each and by the time we sit down to eat it is absolutely pouring down rain, lightning and thundering.  The water starts to seep into the cafe and before too long there's a river running through it.  Outside the roads are quickly flooding and we see the vehicles making waves on the road.  It's almost 3:30pm when we think we'd better make a run for the front gate.  Everyone is there waiting and has been worried about us out in the rain we managed to stay pretty dry really.

It takes us an hour and a quarter to drive back to the hotel!!!!!!!  The roads are really flooded and we drive under an overpass the water is only half way up our tyres as we are in a big bus but a man driving his Porsche through is taking a BIG risk the water is over his headlights!!!  there are cars stalled everywhere!!!

Once back at the hotel we both shower and get ready for the Welcome Dinner.  We sit at the table with Mike & Pam Healey their son Patrick and daughter Tara and her son Cyrus.  The organisers have set a table at the front of the room for the angels like the military do for their fallen it touches all the angel parents deeply.
